How do companies improve their business strategy?

Hi guys and welcome back to my blog. Today I will speaking about how companies use enterprise applications to improve their business.

You all know Amazon is an e-commerce company that sells products to consumers through their website, right?. Amazon’s main focus is to have a one stop shop for customers. Amazon uses Systems Analysis and Program Development (SAP) in order to streamline their massive business. SAP is an ERP system that has built in intelligent technologies that companies use to improve their operations. In 77% of revenue transactions worldwide, SAP is engaged at some stage.

Amazon has incorporated SAP Ariba technologies throughout their organisation in order to improve the purchasing process for customers on their website. Imagine you are an Amazon customer and you search for an item on their website, the SAP Ariba will automatically process your order in real time. Amazon have also implemented SAP’s Concur Expense solution, so when you order a product through Amazon it will automatically register the purchase in Concur as it happens. According to Amazon, the SAP system has improved their efficiency from 28% to 43% and customer satisfaction from 11% to 26%.

Many of you also may know Starbucks as your one stop place to get your coffee fix every morning. Out of curiosity, what’s your Starbucks order?

So, let’s take a look at what ERP system they are using to improve their efficiency. The world’s top-ranked coffee chain, operates 35,711 brick and mortar stores worldwide and generates revenue from the sale of their goods within these stores. Starbucks use Oracle E-Business Suite to streamline daily operations and automate back-office operations.

Starbucks apply Oracle to improve decision-making, lower costs, and boost performance. Oracle provides Starbucks with an app that automates every-day transactions.  Following data analysis, the technology helps Starbucks decide what goods they should continue selling and what to stop depending on the customer purchasing patterns.

Lastly, let’s see what system Toyota use. Toyota is the third largest automotive business in the world, generating $264.5 billion in revenue.

Toyota have implemented smart cloud-based ERP system, Microsoft Dynamics 365. Microsoft Dynamics 365 is an ERP solution intended to increase efficiency within an organisations business operations. The system gathers information about Toyota’s suppliers, inventory levels and work progress and analyses them to identify problems within the company. Based on the analysis provided by Microsoft Dynamics 365, inventory control was identified as Toyota’s biggest weakness. Toyota were then able to communicate more closely with suppliers to obtain parts based on demand and improve inventory levels.

ERP systems have enabled companies such as Amazon, Starbucks and Toyota to improve their efficiency, analyse data and make informed decisions based on this. Therefore, improving business operations within their organisation and reducing costs in the long run.
